Exfoliation (Manual & Chemical)

Old dead skin cells like to stick around, giving our skin a dry and dull appearance, with proper exfoliation skin can feel smoother, look radiant, and improve the over all health of your skin. Both Manual and Chemical exfoliation can be truly beneficial to all skin types and conditions not only does it improve the skin on it’s own but enhances the other products used afterwards allowing serums and hydrators to penetrate deeper and improving the skin to another level without the barrier of dead skin blocking the product penetration.

Manual exfoliation is when an actual scrub or brush is used to remove the dead skin cells. Examples of manual exfoliation would be, sea salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, microdermabrasion, or  dry brushing. Chemical exfoliation is when an enzyme, alpha-hydroxy (AHA) or beta-hydroxy (BHA) acid is used to remove the dead skin cells. Examples of chemical exfoliation would be, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salysilic acid, or fruit enzymes. Of course there are many others and the possibilities are endless.

There is the possibility of over exfoliating and stripping the skin so consult with your esthetician to find out what would be best for you, depending on skin type and what treatments you are currently under going.

At Bella Gia we offer chemical peels, microdermabrasion, body scrubs and sell a variety of different at home exfoliant options!
